Maifeld Derby is a German boutique festival in Mannheim. Founded in 2011, the festival offers a wide range of international artists and genres. Former performers include The National, Daughter, Roisin Murphy, Amanda Palmer, Eels, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, drawing audiences of up to 5000 festival goers a day.
The festival was founded by Timo Kumpf who also runs the local promotion company Delta Konzerte, and has himself played more than 500 concerts as the bass player of German Indie band Get Well Soon (2006-2019). His own personal experience from playing festivals all over Europe (Roskilde, Glastonbury, Pukkelpop, Rock En Seine, etc.) has led him to create a festival that implements his own ideas as a musician. Maifeld Derby is one of the few 100% independent festivals out there and holds a high reputation all over Europe.
